Why Gossip Is So Bad For Girls and Women and Great For Men

With the upcoming US election , all eyes are on the one with a vagina,  a woman, the overweight (4/10 women are obese in America), resume building (how dare women do that!) unattractive, designer-dress wearing, old (what’s the alternative), lying, cheating, husband-hating, wicked, evil, Machiavellian, nefarious out for herself calculating (vs. strategic, word reserved for men) candidate.

A murderer, Hilary Clinton is the only secretary of state to lose overseas personnel to terrorism (just forget Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright, George Schultz, Dean Rusk). A witch who should be burned at the stake, she is responsible for getting men to take their own lives after having illicit affairs with them.

She is a thief, an inside trader, a hair dying (what women does that? 90%), working mother (didn’t her daughter need her?) who lived above her means with that post White House New York mansion, philandering lesbian with “cankles” who as a Chicago Cubs fan (hello NY senate) quite possibly committed the worst crime against humanity.  If that isn’t enough how cold she possibly have insulted Tammy Wynette by standing by her man.

Women repeat these untruths without care. Gossip is a good thing for girls or so we are taught. Welcome to 2016, the year where women are comfortable lambasting their sisters and putting them down. When women try to climb high? Get the bucket, the crab (bitch) is making her way out and we the wicked stepsisters are here to help.

It is much easier for mean girls to come out instead of independent, confident women because putting other women down makes us feel better on some level.  And men love this. The weaker we are, the easier the attack. (translation: get their way…. with us, enact legislation to endanger women, favor rapists in court, rethink reproductive rights)

So often I hear women say, “I don’t like Hilary Clinton or another particular female politician.” When I probe further, they say, “I don’t like her policies.” When I ask what “policies” many cannot name one.

What if women bothered to inform themselves of Hilary’s Clinton's accomplishments? I understand you may align with Republican values and Trump’s towering inferno of misogyny. That is your prerogative.

I am not asking you to vote for Hilary Clinton,  just be informed:

  1. Hilary had an integral role in the murder of Osama Bin Laden
  2. China speech on women.
  3. Her State department management resulted in increased exports to China by 50%
  4. Worked aggressively on Climate change (don’t say aggressively-not ladylike)
  5. Improved international relations (after the Bushwhackers) with EU, China, Russia and imposed tough (don’t use this word) sanctions on Iran that brought Iran to the table.
  6. Health Care Coverage (SCHIP program) for millions of babies & children, improved pediatric research insisting drugs be tested on our children. Worked like a soldier on health care for soldiers. (no biggie)
  7. Pay equity (the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Equity Act allows women to challenge unequal pay). (Newsflash! Your voice has been found!)

Life is a gravel road and we need to travel together, ladies and that means standing up for one another. We need to teach then next generation of women that " gossip girls " are not ok but educated, informed girls and women are perfectly fine. The added weight a woman carries may be a sign of stress. She may stay with an abusive man because her life is in greater danger once she leaves. Second hand clothing says she may have had unanticipated hospital bills or chooses to live within her means. How novel. When she chooses to stay with her cheating husband, she may be protecting her family.Be informed on women's issues.

When a woman puts another woman down, it brings two women down. Women need to support other women, truly.  We’ve come along way baby and we have no one to blame but ourselves for our lot in life. It is 2016 and it is time for women to become informed and stop the gossip.
