vaginal rejuvenation – 50 Shades of Pink Blog Sexual Health, Relationships, Marriage, Sexless Marriage, Dating and Divorce Fri, 27 Jul 2018 06:46:48 +0000 en-CA hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.9.8 Sex After Baby; Love, Lust and Laxity /sex-after-baby-love-lust-and-laxity/ /sex-after-baby-love-lust-and-laxity/#respond Wed, 28 Feb 2018 04:58:12 +0000 /?p=3067 Eileen was so excited to have had her first baby with her husband Edward. She had an idea of the demands of a new baby as her best friend had given birth recently. That said, she was nervous that the demands of the baby might impact her relationship with her husband.

What Eileen didn't expect when she was expecting was a change in her sexual function after the birth of her baby. Eileen and Edward resumed intimate relations as per the doctor's order at six weeks postpartum. Although Eileen felt closer than ever to Edward she was surprised that sexually things felt different. Her doctor recommended Kegel exercises but after many weeks, they didn't help with her lack of sexual sensation.

Eileen emailed me after hearing a segment on my radio show the Sunday Night Health Show with Dr. Bruce Alan an obstetrician and gynecologist. We spoke about those sensitive issues that may occur after a woman has a baby such as physical, psychological and relationship changes.

Women tell Dr. Alan that things have changed sexually after childbirth, it's not as pleasurable and they're not as engaged in intercourse anymore which may lead to relationship issues. Dr. Alan explained that after childbirth women experience a combination of tone and tissue changes due to the distention of the vagina during a vaginal delivery which is referred to as vaginal laxity or looseness.

The vaginal tissue is composed of collagen and elastin. With the stretching of the tissues during a vaginal delivery, collagen and elastin are lost. Kegel exercises may help to increase muscle tone but won't help with the sensation.

Restoration of collagen in the vaginal tissues is needed to improve sexual sensation for women. Dr. Alan and I discussed Geneveve by Viveve a new radio frequency, energy type treatment that heats the vaginal tissues and stimulates fibroblasts which are important in the restoration of collagen and elastin.

Genevieve, by Viveve is a safe, quick, painless and effective procedure that a woman can have performed in her doctor's office on her lunch hour. There's no risks, complications or downtime. By improving sexual sensation with Geneveve by Viveve.com Geneveve women can enjoy intercourse again!

Although a woman does this treatment for herself to make sex more pleasurable, Geneveve by Viveve Geneveve has a significant impact on relationships. Dr. Alan has had tremendous feedback from many women, who've told him Geneveve by Viveve has saved their marriages.

Want Increased Sexual Desire Ladies? Get Naked. /want-increased-sexual-desire-ladies-get-naked/ /want-increased-sexual-desire-ladies-get-naked/#respond Sat, 22 Jul 2017 01:17:01 +0000 /?p=2779 Lately I've been hearing the same sentiment from women in relationships about their sexual desire. The battle cry is, "I need to jumpstart my sex drive." or "my sex drive is asleep and I need to awaken it!" This at least reveals that some women are aware that their sexuality is important and it's important for their relationship.

Women have been led to believe that sexual desire precedes sexual activity when in actual fact, arousal often precedes sexual desire especially in the longer term relationships which is anything longer than two years. Once women realize that this linear sexual response is not reliable, they can understand why things hadn't been working the way they thought they should.

That said, if your sex live needs a reboot, a little support may be required in getting the juices flowing, the arousal going. This begins with a little self exploration. It's important ladies to know yourself, explore your body and learn what feels good. According to research about 85% of women self-stimulate so next time you do, make sure you get naked first. This in and of itself is arousing. Touch yourself, feel the sensations, explore and learn what feels good.

In addition to feeling good, self-stimulation revitalizes body tissues and releases emotional tension. Masturbation may help you to increase your arousal to a higher level and experience orgasm and/or increase the pleasure or intensity of an orgasm. Pleasuring yourself is helpful if your partner is on a different sexual rhythm and not only meets your sexual needs, you will be able to communicate to your partner what feels good. Masturbation is healthy, normal and beneficial both physically and emotionally ladies. If you can't touch yourself, who can you touch?

Be comfortable in your own skin and strut your stuff! Naked, of course. The next time you make love with your partner, walk in the room naked. Well ok, naked with the exception of some hot pink pumps perhaps. I was in a store recently and a guy had picked up a size 7 hot pink strappy pump from the sale section to show to his girlfriend. The shoes were too small for her but fortunately were just my size! Know what you want ladies and go after it!

Consider, doing your household chores with nothing on and celebrate! Pay bills at your desk in the buff! Fantasize, it's fun! Conduct your business in your birthday suit! You might want to stop short of answering the door for the delivery man in the buff unless of course it's a fantasy fulfilled. Dream on ladies! It's arousing indeed!

Almost naked works too. You don't want to wear too much which is why a G-String may be perfect. G-string panties are naturally arousing as they gently press against your clitoris. The tighter the G-string, the more pressure applied. You get it.

In order to be comfortable in your skin and strut your stuff in pumps, obviously you must be comfortable with your body. This calls for my "Get Naked Diet." Make a commitment to cutting out sugar, alcohol, carbohydrates and process foods. The "Get Naked Diet" is a lifestyle change to health, clean eating; high protein, low carb, water, low glycemic fruits and vegetables.

Eating this way will increase your energy levels, improve your mood and help you to sleep better. Fatigue is the number one reason for low sexual desire and will no longer plague your sexual response. This Get Naked Plan may also reduce pain because of the elimination of the inflammatory agent sugar from your diet.

Exercise is important too as not only does it aid in flexibility, it increases serotonin levels, improving mood and overall wellness. You can sure exercise in the buff in the privacy of your own home which may increase arousal also! If you feel good, you can't help but look good. I'm not suggesting that only thin bodies are sexy, rather that women with confidence in their bodies are the sexiest bodies. Keep in mind, your physical, emotional and spiritual health are tied to your sex life.

So celebrate your body, get naked, touch yourself, fantasize and strut your stuff back to the bedroom ladies! You'll be glad you did. Oh and one more thing.....no marriage is perfect and you will have conflict, so remember settle all marital arguments in the bedroom.....NAKED!

I’m So Happy! I’m Trimming My Hedge Today! /im-so-happy-im-trimming-my-hedge-today/ /im-so-happy-im-trimming-my-hedge-today/#respond Sat, 24 Jun 2017 14:43:13 +0000 /?p=2652 When I arrived at the beach early one morning this week for my daily dolphin dive, I announced to my swim mates that I was so happy because I was having my hedge trimmed that day. My friend replied, "so am I!" Not that hedge, I said, my 175 foot long, 22 ft high, 14 foot wide laurel hedge.

Naturally this conversation took a muff dive as we discussed "to trim or not to trim".......the bush vs. the hedge.

There are a few different ways to smooth things over down there.....shaving, waxing, plucking (Ouch!) laser therapy, trimming and the less popular but also less risky, depilatory (hair removal) creams. Shaving is the most common way to clear the runway, however it may irritate and inflame the hair follicles potentially leaving open wounds, a conduit for infection.

According to a study in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 60 percent of women had at least one health complication incurred from pubic hair removal, typically epidermal abrasion (invisible cuts to the skin), laceration, rashes and ingrown hairs. It was also shown to cause severe skin irritation and infections. The lesson here? Ladybits need tender loving care.

Waxing one's way back to pre-pubesecent wonder is efficient but hurts like heck! Worse than that, there is evidence that it is dangerous and women are at risk of boils and sexually transmitted infections. Just ask Emily Gibson, director of the health centre at Western Washington University who launched an appeal to put a stop to the trend of pubic hair removal because of these risks.

Laser removal is growing in popularity and is now offered by technicians in medi spas rather than physicians. Know that your ladybits are at risk of being burned, ladies. Lawsuits claimed against non-physician operators increased by 78% over a one year period according to one recent study.

Hair removal creams contain chemicals however do appear to be less irritating if you can bear the scent which has improved over the years. Don't be in a hurry to bare all. Ensure that anyone who goes at it with a wand, wax or any other device is trained in the procedure and also in dealing with your skin type.

To trim or not to trim? That is the question and may be the answer too. Ladies, you can still have that sought after neatness without baring it all. Tidy things up "down there" by trimming instead of a full hair removal as it will ensure your hair follicles remain intact. If you decide to shave, then, take your time and use proper shaving products.

So why would a woman be so happy to remove her hedge when pubic hair is there to “absorb moisture and drain it away from areas that aren’t exposed?” If there’s no hair, the skin is more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections like herpes and genital warts which can be passed onto one's partner.

So I scratch my head when I hear that a full bush is a deal breaker for many men who prefer that smooth pre-adolescent Barbie doll look. Many women derive a great deal of pleasure from oral sex so they often succumb (submit?) to this particular male grooming request.

An entire generation of women believe there is something gross and downright wrong about a woman with a bush. This belief may have its roots in pornography. Even pubic hair goes grey, another popular reason for "Edward Scissorhanding" the hedge. There are dyes for pubic hair, but that's another blog. Still some women find the clean shaven look empowering, one way to exhibit feminine power. Talk about the feminine mystique.

Fashion trends come and go and the clean shaven look is just that, in for now, out before you know it.

Have You Heard About the Mona Lisa Touch? /have-you-heard-about-the-mona-lisa-touch/ /have-you-heard-about-the-mona-lisa-touch/#respond Mon, 12 Jun 2017 20:54:37 +0000 /?p=2644 At 75, Barbara was an unlikely widow. Her husband 15 years her junior passed away unexpectedly and way before his time. In the few months leading to his death, Barbara had noticed sex was painful and so she decided after Jack passed away that although she felt she was a very sexual woman, it was no longer on the table for her. This saddened her as she said she had always enjoyed sex but the memory of the sexual pain was almost too much to bear.

At age 65, Betsy presented with recurrent urinary tract infections and vaginal dryness. She also leaked urine when she coughed or sneezed. She had been waiting for an appointment with her gynaecologist for three months. Her GP had no idea how to treat her. She kept prescribing antibiotics but there was one problem. Her urine for culture and sensitivity came back negative. Betsy was frustrated.

Lucy was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis, a skin condition of the vulva that results in pain and itching not to mention scarring of the vulva. This not only was uncomfortable and embarrassing, it impacted her self-esteem. She was offered cortisone cream as a treatment by her doctor but she feared that it would thin her skin and make matters worse over time. She hoped for a more permanent solution.

Lichen Sclerosis is a skin condition that creates patchy, white skin that's thinner than normal. Lichen sclerosus can affect skin anywhere on your body. But it most often involves skin of the vulva or around the anus in women.

A woman’s sex life and/or self-esteem needn’t suffer because of any of the above conditions which are quite common in women. Vaginal dryness which is often the cause of painful sex is the hallmark symptom of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) (formerly called Vaginal Atrophy), a condition that affects women during the menopausal years. Vaginal dryness, leakage of urine, recurrent urinary tract infections are all common symptoms of GSM along with thin watery discharge, post-coital bleeding, painful sex and itching.

Estrogen is the hormone regulator of the vagina and is what keeps the vagina in balance and well lubricated. Lubrication is why sex doesn’t hurt. Estrogen also accounts for the elasticity of the vagina and it is those reasons prevent sex from being painful.

When estrogen decreases in the vagina, the vaginal walls may become dry, lose elasticity and predispose a woman to recurrent urinary tract infections. The treatment for GSM has historically been hormone-free personal moisturizers and/or hormone treatments such as a tablet, cream or a ring that are inserted into the vagina. Both are local therapies and typically doesn’t cause any side effects.

The down side of localized estrogen therapy is that it has to be taken for your entire life twice weekly if you are using a tablet or cream form. If you are using the ring, then this must be inserted and removed by a health care professional every three months. If you stop using localized estrogen therapy your condition will rebound. This is the only symptom of menopause that typically doesn't go away. These therapies are lifelong.

Although localized estrogen therapy is low dose, many women especially those who’ve had breast or uterine cancer are uncomfortable with any amount of it no matter how small. Although localized estrogen typically doesn’t cross over into the bloodstream, we don't really know for sure because some women do experience breast tenderness.

When estrogen levels decline after menopause, many changes occur and women may suffer as a result. They needn’t. You’ve heard of laser therapy for the face? Now there’s laser therapy for the vagina. Enter Mona Lisa Touch a new novel fractional CO2 laser therapy for vaginal health. It is being used to treat vaginal dryness, painful sex GSM (vaginal atrophy), leakage of urine and may even help some women with lichen sclerosis.

Many women have called this new laser treatment life changing. Others have said it brought them back to their youth. The Mona Lisa Touch laser therapy is a simple procedure that takes less than five minutes. Typically, a woman will need 2-3 treatments and many women report symptom relief after the very first treatment and even greater improvement after the second and third treatments.

The Mona Lisa Touch is convenient, performed in the doctor’s office, requires no anaesthesia, has minimal side effects and requires no downtime. The Mona Lisa laser probe is inserted into the woman’s vagina and delivers laser pulses. The total procedure time is less than five minutes and is virtually painless.

Some women may experience mild discomfort with the laser probe tip insertion during the first procedure if there is sensitivity. Many women report instant relief and provides lasting results. A once a year single treatment is recommended after the first series of treatments to maintain symptom relief.

Ladies, don’t let vaginal dryness, painful sex, leakage of urine and/or lichen sclerosis get in the way of your life or worse your love life. There are lots of treatments available including laser therapy such as the Mona Lisa Touch which I'm happy to report, we are now offering for women in my clinical practice. Mona Lisa Touch

The Casualty of My Breast Cancer Was My Vagina! /the-casualty-of-my-breast-cancer-was-my-vagina/ /the-casualty-of-my-breast-cancer-was-my-vagina/#respond Fri, 26 May 2017 17:54:46 +0000 /?p=2612 Five years ago June was diagnosed with breast cancer. While that diagnosis was shocking enough, she said she was am now five years out and although considered cured, she told me she was still dealing with what she believes to be the worst part of her nightmare. One that no one talks about. Her vagina.

In a loving relationship with a man who supported her throughout her journey, she was forever grateful. Low sexual desire due to vaginal and sexual pain, she said the sad thing was that she's not been able to be intimate with her man and it wasn't due to her diagnosis. It's was the treatment that caused most of her pain. She's been suffering with vaginal dryness since being treated with Tamoxifen to keep her breast cancer at bay after her chemotherapy.

Although there are many treatments like personal moisturizers for vaginal dryness, they don't work for everyone and this was the case for June. Low dose localized estrogen is really only an option for women who've not had a history of breast cancer.

Now there's a new laser technology for vaginal dryness, sexual pain and even leakage of urine called the Mona Lisa Touch. Issues of gynecologic health are commonly seen in post-menopausal women, breast cancer survivors and women who have had a hysterectomy. In the US, as many as 50% of 64 million post-menopausal women suffer from changes to their gynecologic health*, and over 2.8M breast cancer survivors**.

The MonaLisa Touch procedure is a unique treatment that uses a medical laser that delivers controlled energy to the vaginal tissue so cells make more collagen.

This procedure is a painless, in-office treatment, performed without requiring anesthesia that only takes five minutes, resulting in virtually no down time. Three treatments are recommended however many women feel results after the first treatment.

A women needn't accept the changes that occur after breast cancer treatment of the post-menopausal gynecologic changes as an inevitable part of her life. I'm excited to say we now offer Mona Lisa Touch in my office. We are having an information session on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. To learn more, please visit: Mona Lisa Touch

Sister, Your Time Has Come! /sister-your-time-has-come/ /sister-your-time-has-come/#comments Fri, 19 May 2017 05:59:33 +0000 /?p=2585 Olivia, my 80 year old pt. piped up one day and said, "I've never had an orgasm in forty years of marriage." She said she'd faked it all those years during her marriage to Harry. "What a shame!" I exclaimed. Sister, your time has come and so must you!

I probed a bit further. Did you ever experience and orgasm on your own? No, she replied. Did you know that 70% of women require clitoral stimulation to experience orgasm? She didn't know that. And finally, did Harry ever find out you were faking it? No, she said. I was glad for that and told her so because men like an enthusiastic partner.

Harry was long gone and Olivia had been on her own ever since. Harry was the only man she'd ever had sex with so she didn't know if she might have experienced an orgasm with another man. She would never know. She said that although she would love to experience an orgasm before she dies, she had no interest in marrying again to have one. She felt that Harry had disappointed her on so many levels in life. That may have been a contributing factor as to why she never experienced an orgasm with him.

I explained the many health benefits of experiencing an orgasm from the release of endorphins which may help with pain, sleep and mood to the youthful glow it gives a woman. It is never too late to experience an orgasm and marrying isn't the only chance to achieve this incredible pleasure.

Enter the womanizer, once believed to inflict pain, we've reclaimed this word to mean pleasure. The womanizer is a clitoral suckling device that produces fast and often multiple orgasms on demand.

Olivia said, "I need to have one of those before I croak!" One? You need multiples and the womanizer never disappoints! To purchase a womanizer go to: Back To The Bedroom

If You Get A Womanizer, You Won’t Need Me! /if-you-get-a-womanizer-you-wont-need-me/ /if-you-get-a-womanizer-you-wont-need-me/#respond Tue, 09 May 2017 05:23:23 +0000 /?p=2492

With Mother's Day fast approaching Anne mentioned me that her husband asked her what she would like this year. Anne said she felt that their sex life had been a bit lacklustre of late and so she suggested he buy her a womanizer. He responded by saying that if he got her a womanizer she wouldn't need him anymore. A bit startled, Anne said she had no idea her husband even knew about womanizers. What guy doesn't?

You might be wondering just what kind of a womanizer I'm referring to right about now. Well, it's not a philanderer. That kind of a womanizer causes pain. The kind of womanizer I'm talking about causes pleasure! This womanizer is not a vibrator. A womanizer is a clitoral suckling device, the latest and greatest sex toy available today. Yes, yes, yes ladies, you heard right!

When I first learned about the womanizer the name was a turn off. My thought was "typical, men have stolen a name associated with pain for our pleasure." Was I ever wrong. My mind was rapidly changed when in the name of research (of course), I took her for a ride and what a ride it was!

Fast forward (and I mean fast and fabulous orgasm that is),ladies, we have officially reclaimed the word womanizer! A womanizer is a sure fire way to pleasure! Our pleasure ladies. I wasn't expecting much given the name but man was I pleasantly surprised. First of all the womanizer finds "the spot" and stays there until you experience the most earth-shattering, dazzling, toe-curling, explosive, life altering orgasm......in under two minutes I might add.

When Anne told me her husband was concerned that she would no longer need him if he purchased a womanizer for her, I said "au contrare, you'll need but more importantly will want him even more!" A womanizer will ignite a woman's sexuality and bring her to a place of wanting.....more and better sex that is.

You see, the womanizer increases a woman's desire because the orgasms are so incredible and with the release of chemicals in her brain, she will begin to feel, look and sleep better. Intimacy is important to a relationship and women know that without a doubt. Nothing beats the human touch. The reminder of great orgasms will lead her back to the bedroom with you, her man. But she can bring the womanizer along. After all, it might be quite erotic for a husband to watch his wife get off with a womanizer. Pun intended.

The same goes for same sex couples. In fact, if there are two mommies for children, then two womanizers are even better than one especially if you want yours all to yourself for those alone times.

If you want to be husband of the year to the mother of your children, or just the best partner ever, look no further than the Womanizer. She'll be glad you did and believe me, she'll not only need you more, she'll want you more. If you want to be king of the cul de sac and please the mother of your children, making her the envy of the neighbourhood, go to:
Womanizer

The Power of the Pumps in the Boss Lady’s Bedroom! /the-power-of-the-pumps-in-the-bedroom/ /the-power-of-the-pumps-in-the-bedroom/#respond Thu, 04 May 2017 19:13:37 +0000 /?p=2450 There's power in those pumps whether they be in the bedroom or the boardroom. But since so few women today are in boardrooms, I will stick to the subject where I have far more expertease-the power of the pumps in the bedroom. We're talking shoes, ladies, fabulous shoes!

Pumps are empowering on many different levels but they may also get you in trouble which can be a good thing. I once tried to talk to a cabinet minister about an issue that affects 16% of the population. He was willing to talk until I stood up and towered over his ginger-topped head. I was shut down in an instant.

You see I rapidly go from 5'7" to 5'11 inches in a darn good pair of 4 inch heels. He on the other hand couldn't stand to stand next to me from way down there and so he cut the conversation short in one of the rudest diatribes ever. My pumps failed me or so I thought. In actual fact, my pumps confirmed what I already knew. The power he perceived in me invoked fear in him. He was shorter and therefore felt less powerful at that moment.

He hadn't taken away my power, he fuelled it. The lesson? Don't ever underestimate the power of your pumps ladies! Now let's get back to the bedroom, where pumps are essential. First of all, there is no sexier shoe out there ladies! When you strap on a pair of 3, 4, 6 inch pumps, not only do you stand a little taller, you are straighter and can really strut your stuff! Whether you're in luscious lingerie or decide your birthday suit is best, pumps can be a surefire way to more pleasure!

Keep in mind your pumps give you power in the bedroom too. Standing over your lover in the power pose, your pumps will lift everything from your breasts to your bottom. You feel sexier in pumps, stronger and that propels your feminine power. Pumps transform a woman. Feeling sexy and powerful, it's much easier to put on a show for your man. You perform much better dressed up in pumps.

But there are other ways to exert your feminine power in the bedroom. Powerful women get what they want in the bedroom because they know what they desire from their man. If you want your man to scream with pleasure, then you need to change up the routine one step at a time.

First and foremost, initiate sex. It all begins with you. Next tell your man you want to try something new. It could be as simple as demanding a few things from him- a back or front rub, a foot massage or certain favourite delicacies. Start to build the sexual tension by teasing him and talking dirty.

Believe you me, he'll love it. Whisper in his hear while you nibble on his neck. Then bring on just a bit of light kink to start; blindfold, handcuffs, a tie or two. You'll need him to be obedient so if he misbehaves, you'll have to spank him. Perhaps a light whip is in order? HELLO 50 SHADES!

Next you'll want to get right down to it. Oral Sex that is. Insist he go down on you first and not just once but twice. This can be part of the rules of your power play in pumps. After all, you're the boss lady in the bedroom? As the sexual tension soars, it's his turn.

Knowing how to perform below the belt will leave him begging for more. You'll quickly become his addiction which means he'll be back again for sure. Harness your feminine power and then unleash it ladies. Remember there's power in those pumps so slap some on whether it be in the boardroom or the bedroom and strut your stuff in sexy style! Pumps.
