Would my plane get off? It was touch & go for the red eye Sunday night due to a BC blizzard.
I was scheduled to give a talk the next day on low sexual desire in women in Toronto with a colleague. I advised him of the potential for a delay or cancellation. Nervous he might have to deliver the sex talk on his own, he asked me to keep him updated.
The plane got up in spite of the frigid temps & I texted my colleague when I landed, to which he replied, "Wonderful, I was just blow drying the blonde wig, about to practice the voice, the six inch heels are are killing me, but what's pain if not for beauty?"
"Thank God", he said, I couldn't have pulled off being you.
I laughed so hard! But it also gave me pause. How important is it to be who we are in life & in our relationships?
I often hear myself saying, "this is me" as though a disclaimer is needed for being me! Well, maybe it is.
Or I say, "what you see is what you get" as though you should get something other than what you see. This is pretty much it.
I can't pull off being you & you, me. (unless we're role playing of course #wink) But that's another blog post so stay tuned.
So, desire to be you. It's the best you can be. It's true happiness. Live life on your own terms. You'll be judged anyway.
"To be you in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
